Martin and his land

After having explored my connection to the land as a visitor, I wondered how it differs to owning land. So I asked a local farmer.

"Farmer" Martin took over his father's house and land when he passed away. According to Martin, his father never was a 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 farmer. When his children asked him if it was time to harvest, he would answer, ''Let's see what Winston Churchill has to say about that!'' and opened the newspaper. Ever since Martin inherited  the land, he has lives in dualism ever since: should he farm the land or outsource it and pursue other interests?
The land preserves the memories of his childhood, and so Martin remains growing some barley alongside working a fulltime job,
meanwhile he silently dreams of giving up both to build his dream house in Sicily.
