The Smooth and the Striated

The desert was once a sea, and one day, it may become land again. How does this evolution happen over time? This experimental weave reflects that natural process, weaving together materials, patches, and patterns to mirror transitions—some soft and gradual, others sharp and dramatic.

 

Size: 105cm L x 95 cm W

Steel hanger: 115 cm W x 10cm D

Materials: organic cotton and linen warp;

combined with handspun wool (gifted by a friend) and my own handspun wool, silk, pineapple, bamboo, and hemp fibers.

*As some the materials are naturally dyed, it’s best to hang the work out of direct sunlight to preserve its color.
