The first painting session of Dialogues of the Figures took place in December in my studio, together with artist Dané Vonk. We had to mix various Earth Pigments with fresh soy milk to produce the paint. Than, in silence, we painted together on one large fabric, while reflecting on artist related questions such as 'what is your favorite tool?' and 'how do you stay focused?' During a private workshop @Verfmolendekat, I dove into everything there is to know about Earth Pigments. Piet Kempenaar, owner of this windmill, knows not only about the pigment's rich history, but also how to apply it on paper. Painting on fabric however, was new for him. My own method - based on a lot of trial and error with fermented and horrible smelly soy milk - struck him as surprisingly color fast! At @campfirestoriesnl, Heidi of @cobo_co and myself made a collective weave installation and invited the participants of the festival to weave with us. In between two trees, many strings were woven in while new encounters took place, personal stories were shared and new connections and friendships were build. Besides that, it also resulted in two wonderful weavings, inspired by the natural landscape. These two will decorate the campfirestories festivals to come! #weavingtoget
